Happy International Women’s Day!
What better way to celebrate than seeing what the hell we left behind in the 1950s (which is frighteningly not that long ago).
Dating then vs. dating now
Listen, say what you will about dating in the 21st century, yes ghosting sucks, yes chivalry sometimes seems dead, yes hookup culture can be exhausting, yes all the dating terminology we’ve created is almost more of an effort to keep up with than keeping up with the Kardashian drama, but I’ll take that any day ‘cause women have basic rights now, which is nice.

This pretty exhaustive list of 129 things will seem like a joke, and I promise you, it isn’t, I would not lie on International Women’s Day. It’s an actual list of things you should do to guide you into a strong man’s loving arms.
Sidenote: why they decided on a list of 129 instead of 130 is beyond me, maybe 129 is the highest they thought a woman could count to back then.

But joke’s on them, I would rather be single for the rest of my life than resort to some of these but that’s only because I’m a lazy millennial who doesn’t have disposable income to set up a goddamn BILLBOARD asking men to date me.
The good news though, is that in this day and age, you don’t need to do any of that! All you gotta do is download Clover, get comfy in the favorite part of your couch and chill at home in your PJs. Not only that, ladies, but now we can vote AND have high-ish paying jobs AND be semi-respected as human beings AND wear pants (we still don’t get functional pockets yet though, that’s too much to handle at this point in time; check back in 2030).
I took the liberty of fixing up this list a bit. It’s my gift to you on International Women’s Day. Check it out and leave your thoughts in the a comment below!

I have to preface these next few by telling you that these are the WACKIEST ones in this list. Shocking, I know. They really took “anything goes” seriously.

Is #129 is their cute way of saying not to marry him if he’s insane? ‘Cause that’s probably the best tip on here tbh.
So, what did we learn?
- Finding a husband is not worth any of this
- You should live your life for you ’cause life is too short to live it for other people
- Dating apps are a literal godsend.
- Added bonus! We also learned that we’ve come a long way since this list but oh boy, do we still have a long way to go. The good news though? The more the years go by, the more women are feeling empowered to push for the power of choice which means more products, businesses, and societies are starting to reflect that!✊✊
