Clover Love Story: Alyssa And Cody

Spread the love

The pandemic has been proof of the power of human connection even through a virtual means. From acts of #CovidKindness to crazy distanced acts of love, love always wins no matter what!

Luckily, with the existence of modern tech, physical distancing hasn’t actually meant ‘social’ distancing for bored and lonely people in quarantine. On Clover alone, there was a 30% increase in singles looking for love over quarantine!

Alyssa and Cody’s #CloverLoveStory is just another example of love being found when it’s least expected. They caught each other’s attention on Clover (spoiler alert: because they actually had well thought-out bios), went on a first date on January 5th, 2020 (yes, they remember the date, obvi!) and now, they’re engaged!

That’s enough talking from me, I’ll let them and their love do most of the talking:

When you first saw each other on Clover, what stood out the most?

Alyssa: For me, it was definitely the fact that Cody actually had a bio. I vowed that I would never swipe right on someone based entirely on looks. To find out, that’s the exact reason Cody swiped on me, too! Of course I thought he was a cutie, and vice versa, but this showed that he had substance!

Why did you choose the Clover app to look for love?

“No notifications about possible matches, no ‘hookups’, just a simple ‘come back when you’re ready’ app. It’s been the only app I was ever successful on.

Clover was the least scary dating app I have ever been on. The colors and application of the actual app was simple. No notifications about possible matches, no “hookups”, just a simple “come back when you’re ready” app. It’s been the only app I was ever successful on. I found the love of my life, the one I want to spend the rest of my life with.

Clover makes talking simple, makes love simple, and makes saying “no!’ just as easy (because that’s important, too!). If I could convince everyone to find love on Clover, I would. I want everyone to feel the love I feel because of Clover. I can’t thank them enough.

Who messaged who first on Clover?

Alyssa: I messaged him first! Bold, right? Yeah, he thought so too! Before I even re-downloaded Clover, I was in the WORST “situationship” ever.

Once that ended, I told myself that I needed to be more selfish and that the next relationship would be more based on equal happiness versus none at all. Cody told me that was one of the reasons he was so interested in me, so it worked out for the best!

What made you two ‘vibe’ when you were messaging on Clover?

Alyssa: It felt like I was talking to my TWIN! Cody and I share just about the same sense of humor. As I said before, he has substance. He laughed with me and even though I was trying way too hard, he made me loosen up. It was almost as if I were having a conversation with someone I had known my entire life.

What did you do for your first date? How did your relationship evolve after that?

Alyssa: I can replay our first date in my mind exactly, to this day. Cody and I went to see Frozen 2 but ate dinner at O’Charley’s before the movie. HE WAS SUCH A GENTLEMAN. I was extremely nervous. He paid for everything, held the door open for me, shared popcorn, the whole 9.

I remember us talking about “future” dates and saying something along the lines of “If you keep me around long enough…” And to that, Cody said with a smile, “Don’t worry you’re not going anywhere.”

Guess what?

He put a ring on it. So, I guess he was telling the truth <3

What do you see in your future?

Alyssa: I see a happy family with kids. I see a life that Cody and I well deserve for each other. A life filled with love and respect, most importantly, a life and future together.

What’s your best advice for other singles on how to find their own #CloverLoveStory

Alyssa: My advice to everyone else?

Stop looking.

I had tried Clover 6 times before I found Cody, and that’s okay. At the end of the day, when you think you’re done, just remember- you don’t look for love, love looks for you. Cody showed up out of nowhere. I re-downloaded Clover to delete my social media from the profile when Cody’s match came about. The thought of “what would be the worst that could happen?” popped into my mind and I went for it.

I wasn’t looking for love, but it found me on a night where I was almost certain I was over it. Don’t give up. Ever.

Congratulations Alyssa and Cody! So glad you got to create your own #CloverLoveStory!

They started a wedding gofundme for those who wish to support them!

Update: January 20, 2021

The pair got married over the weekend!
